 apidly reshaping both business practices and educational systems\, from de
 cision-making and process automation to teaching\, learning\, and assessme
 nt. The conference focuses on research-based\, practice-oriented AI applic
 ations that create value in business and higher education while addressing
  sustainable\, social\, and organizational implications. Particular attent
 ion is given to the translation of research into practice\, including expe
 rimentation\, pilots\, and collaboration with external partners. This R&I 
 conference brings together researchers\, educators\, innovation actors\, d
 octoral students\, and external partners to explore how AI is applied in r
 eal-world business and educational contexts\, and how research-driven inno
 vation can be developed and implemented collaboratively across the Ulysseu
 s alliance.\nThe conference will play a vital role in strengthening resea
 rch networks\, supporting innovation-driven territorial transformation\, a
 nd showcasing Ulysseus as a driver of excellence in European R&I cooperati
 on. \nResearchers\, innovators\, start-ups\, students and regional stakeh
 olders will have an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas\, showcase res
 ults and forge new partnerships in three thematic tracks:\n\n\n\n\n\nAppli
 ed Artificial Intelligencein Business\n\nuse cases\,\ninnovation processes
 \,\nand organizational change.\n\n\n\n\nArtificial Intelligencein Educatio
 n\n\nteaching (with) AI\,\nlearning analytics\,\nassessment\,\nand faculty

 ly empowered future.\n\nEvent Highlights\nThe conference addresses how app
 lied AI can:\n\nprovide inspirational keynote talks\;\naddress the current
  challenges on how applied AI can support innovation (in business models\,
  processes\, and decision-making)\, enhance teaching\, learning\, and asse
 ssment (in higher education) and be developed and implemented in responsib
 le\, human-centred ways\;\ngive a platform for joint Ulysseus R&I groups 
 in the conference’ topics to showcase the joint R&I activities they cond
 ucted within the Ulysseus European University.\nencourage students and you
 ng researchers to present and discuss their research in an open\, supporti
 ve setting\, direct exchange with senior researchers\, practitioners\, and
  innovation actors and access to networking and matchmaking sessions aimed
  at fostering cross-institutional and interdisciplinary cooperation within
  Ulysseus European University.\n\nThe conference will be back-to-back foll
 owed up by the presentation of the Ulysseus Innovation Hub of Applied AI f
 or Business and Education (7-8 October) which will showcase the activities
  of the Haaga-Helia’s innovation Hub. It will include presentations of o
 ngoing European R&I activities\, applied AI initiatives\, and living lab a
 nd incubator activities\, while creating opportunities for networking\, in
 terdisciplinary exchange\, matchmaking\, and future collaboration within t
 he Ulysseus European University alliance and wider innovation ecosystem.\n
 \nConference Background and Tracks\nUlysseus European University aims to f
 oster joint research and innovation activities across the alliance by crea
 ting an integrated and inclusive innovation ecosystem rooted in its nine U
 lysseus Innovation Hubs.\nOne of the key instruments supporting this goal 
 is the organization of regular Ulysseus Research & Innovation (R&I) Confer
 ences. These conferences serve as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchang
 e and community building—bringing together researchers\, innovators\, st
 art-ups\, students\, and regional stakeholders to present results\, share 
 expertise\, and explore collaborative opportunities. With a focus on appli
 ed research\, young researchers\, and talent matchmaking\, the conferences
  play a vital role in strengthening internal networks\, supporting innovat
 ion-driven territorial transformation\, and showcasing Ulysseus as a drive
 r of excellence in European R&I cooperation.\nAfter successful previous ed
 ition in Münster\, Germany (2024)\, Košice\, Slovakia (2025)\, this ye
 ar conference will be hosted by the Haaga-Helia University of Applied Scie
 nces in Helsinki\, Finland\, encourages researchers\, innovators\, startup
 s and young researchers to converge and share insights under three focused
  tracks:\nTrack 1: Applied Artificial Intelligence in Business\n\nArtifici
 al Intelligence is rapidly transforming business models\, value chains\, a
 nd decision-making processes across industries. This session explores prac
 tical applications of AI in business contexts\, focusing on real-world use
  cases\, innovation processes\, and the organisational transformations req
 uired for successful adoption. Contributions may address topics such as:\n
 \nAI-driven product and service innovation\,\nData-enabled business models
 \,\nProcess automation\,\nHuman-AI collaboration\,\nChange management stra
 tegies.\n\nThe session also welcomes perspectives on barriers to implement
 ation\, skills requirements\, governance structures\, and the role of lead
 ership in AI transformation. The aim is to foster dialogue between researc
 hers\, practitioners\, and policymakers on how organisations can responsib
 ly leverage AI for competitiveness\, resilience\, and sustainable growth.\
 nTrack 2: Artificial Intelligence in Education\n\nAI technologies are resh
 aping teaching\, learning\, and assessment in higher education. This sessi
 on focuses on how AI can be integrated into educational practice\, both as
  a subject of learning and as a tool that supports teaching and institutio
 nal development.\nWe invite contributions on:\n\nAI-supported pedagogies\,
 \nGenerative AI in the classroom\,\nLearning analytics for student success
 \,\nNew assessment formats in the age of AI\,\nStrategies for academic int
 egrity.\n\nThe session also highlights faculty development\, digital compe
 tencies\, and institutional policies needed to navigate AI-driven change i
 n education.\nBy bringing together educators\, researchers\, and education
 al developers\, the session aims to explore how AI can enhance learning ex
 periences while preserving critical thinking\, creativity\, and ethical aw
 areness.\nTrack 3: Sustainability\, Responsibility\, and Trust\n\nAs AI sy
 stems become embedded in societal infrastructures\, questions of responsib
 ility\, fairness\, and trust are increasingly urgent. This session examine
 s the ethical\, social\, and sustainability dimensions of AI deployment.\n
 Topics include:\n\nAlgorithmic bias and discrimination\,\nTransparency and
  explainability\,\nAccountability frameworks\,\nEnvironmental impacts of A
 I\,\nRegulatory developments\,\nPublic trust.\n\nContributions may also ad
 dress participatory approaches\, inclusive design\, and the role of univer
 sities in shaping responsible AI innovation. The session seeks to advance 
 interdisciplinary perspectives on how AI can be developed and governed in 
 ways that align with democratic values\, social justice\, and long-term su
 stainability.\nShow-casing Joint Ulysseus R&I Groups\nThe conference also 
 encourages young researchers to present their research and give a platform
  for joint Ulysseus R&I groups in the conference’ topics to showcase the
  joint R&I activities they conducted within the Ulysseus European Universi
 ty.\nThanks to the Ulysseus Seed Funding Programme for Joint R&I Groups 42
  joint groups were supported in 2025\, mobilising 288 researchers\, engagi
 ng associated partners\, and reinforcing long-term European collaboration

  R&I groups in the interactive formats encouraged: case discussions\, shor
 t presentations\, or panels discussion.\nOpportunity for Students and Youn
 g Researchers\nA dedicated young talent perspective is an integral part of
  the conference and aligns with the Ulysseus’ goals. Doctoral students a
 nd early-career researchers working on applied AI in business\, education\
 , or related fields are explicitly invited to participate.\nThe conference
  offers bachelor\, master\, doctoral students and post-docs:\n\nopportunit
 ies to present and discuss ongoing bachelor\, master and PhD projects in a
 n open\, supportive setting\,\ndirect exchange with senior researchers\, p
 ractitioners\, and innovation actors\,\naccess to networking and matchmaki
 ng sessions aimed at fostering cross-institutional and interdisciplinary c
